Is Your SBDC Using Multimedia Effectively? - Audio

Audio is probably the cheapest way to use multimedia for your SBDC. The only real need is a headset with a microphone, which many of us already have in our possesion due to Skype and other voice over internet protocal (VOIP) programs. If not, they can be picked up between fifteen and fifty dollars at any store that sells electronics. Unlike Skype, if you are making audio recordings for a website or podcast you will need to edit them.

Slow down!

Do you get the feeling that the pace of life is accelerating too quickly for you? I do. I think it all started with instant coffee and TV dinners. In the tech world, there was email because we couldn't wait for telephone calls, or snail mail to be returned. (Don't you just love that term? Talk about slow!) But that wasn't fast enough, so we went to Instant Messages. But even those that take more than a few minutes to answer aren't acceptable, and so now people text each other from their cell phones because they can't wait until they are sitting in front of a computer.

Is Free From Google Good?: One Number For All Your Telecom Needs

This week Google launched Google voice. It's an outgrowth of a service it acquired last year, Grand Central, that gives you one number for all your telephone needs. When people call this number, all the phones you program into the system are called simultaneously. So no matter where you are, you can be reached on the phone and of course even better, you only have one number to give out.

Video Telephones: Less Than the Jettsons And Way Beyond Skype

The futuristic vision of picking up the phone and seeing the person on the other end, is here. It's been here for years, in one way or the other and as I recall AT&T had some futuristic telephones with voice and picture service many years ago.

For many of us, the aspect of traditional telephones with embedded video calling has given way to video calling with Skype, ooVoo or some other service.
