For those first making the leap, social networking can be a bit overwhelming. With so many networks out there and so many thousands of attorneys already taking advantage, venturing in might seem daunting, and some may either shy away or not take it seriously.

What you may not realize is that online social networks are an entirely different animal than traditional forms of networking and marketing. A LinkedIn or Facebook profile is not just like handing someone a business card and sending out a tweet on Twitter is not like shooting out a mass e-mail.
